Late Night Jump | Tampere Dance Camp

Who are we?

The organizers

The camp is organized by Swing Team. Swing Team is a non-profit dance club, which sole mission is to promote swing dancing in Finland and especially in Tampere. Swing Team is run by enthusiastic swing dancers.

Lindy hop was an import to the Finnish swing dance scene in the mid-90's, and since then it has gained ground in some central cities, especially in Tampere and Helsinki – with more and more cities becoming active later on. Dax Hock and Alice Mei were teaching lindy and other related dances in Finland for four months in 2008, and two weeks on Easter 2009. After their visits the level and understanding of lindy has significantly rised in Finland, and the culture of social lindy dancing has gotten clearly stronger.

This camp is organized by a small but energetic lindy hop community, who believe in real lindy hop and want to share it.

The group organising the camp consists of about ten responsible people and several other volunteers. The main responsible for the camp is Aleksis Nokso-Koivisto, with other members of the committee being Aki Suihkonen, Aki Luoma, Anu Kähärä, Mia Helin, Juha Jordan and Mervi Kastari.
