Late Night Jump 2010 Swing Marathon

Welcome to Tampere to join the first ever Nordic Swing Marathon - in co-operation with Lithuania!

The name Marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger. The legend states that he was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the assembly, exclaiming "we have won" before collapsing and dying.

For us, Swing marathon is a totally new concept. However, also the idea of prolonged swing dances actually dates back to the old days of Swing. Also in the modern day, there have been held dance marathons and even swing dance marathons. Now this great way to challenge yourself seems crazy enough idea to be tried out also in Finland. Are you ready?
