DJ'ing

Late Night Parties are the heart and soul of the camp. On most evenings, the party starts at 9 pm with Late Night News that not only provides information on current issues and practicalities at the camp but also includes show acts and some completely unpredictable entertainment. Make sure you don't miss a thing!

Wednesday - New Year's Shakedown

Before Late Night Jump on Wednesday 31st December the New Year's Eve will be celebrated in New Year's Shakedown party in the nearby restaurant Sala Da Pranzo (about 200 metres from the camp venue). The shakedown party includes 10 year anniversary of Boogie Night dance camp - and most of all: good food, live music and great party! The band of the evening is Masa Orpana Quartet.

Naturally there will also be fireworks at midnight (please, bring your own), and you might also want to drink some sparkling wine for New Year's toasts with fellow Late Night Jumpers...

Thursday - Who Is Who?

On Thursday right before the party starts, you have a possibility to meet the teachers! Our foreign teachers are coming to the accommodation rooms, where you can chat with them and ask all the questions that you have in mind. Perhaps you want to introduce your favourite Finnish candy or bring a bottle of beer to the teacher of your choice?

During the Thursday evening we have our traditional DJ competition, where DJs around different Finnish swing cities (also foreign DJs are warmly welcome to participate) have their slot to bring out the best songs. The DJ that gets the most dancers to the dance floor gets all the fame and glory and of course the trophy!

Friday - Rhythm'n'Blues

Friday night theme is Rhythm'n'blues. On stage we have a live band playing RnB music at the camp venue.

Saturday - Competition

On Saturday evening there will be a dance competition. The competition has a "Grand Prix" status of the Finnish Dancesport Association, which means it's held in accordance to the federation's official rules. There are several classes and divisions from juniors to seniors in various dances, ranging from Finnish Fusku to Acrobatic Rock'n'Roll. More details in Finnish from Swing Team website.

After the competition, the partying will go on downstairs for as long as you last!

If you are not participating to this period of the camp, competition entrance fee is 10/6 euros.

Sunday - Swing!

A bit more inofficial and more laid-back in nature than Saturday's GP competition, our traditional social dance contest Night Swing Jam is here again! Come join us in Restaurant Hermanni in the nearby shopping mall. Live: Sweet Jeena and Her Lazy Lions with special guest Neil (UK, swing quitar).

After the closing signal from the restaurant, we will return to our camp venue and continue dancing until the wee hours.

Night Swing Jam - Rules

There are no specific rules, everything goes.
Music is swing, no specified dance style.

Qualification rounds, if more than 8 couples.

Final round with 7 or 8 couples.

- Jam session with 2 choruses / couple / round, 2-4 rounds
- Ending with all-skate about 45 sec - 2 min
- Music speed a bit faster (around 49-55 bars/min)

- Jam session with 2 choruses / couple / round, 2 rounds
- Ending with all-skate about 45 sec - 2 min
- Music speed about "social dance" -speed (around 34-39 bars/min)

Prize: Ticket for a couple to Swing Crash Festival in Como, Italy, in mid summer. Will be drawn from a hat among all contestants.

Enrollment

- The enrollment is made to Mr Aki Luoma, firstname.lastname (at) swingteam.fi and during the camp to the info counter.

- Couples can take part for individual or both rounds.

Monday - Cabaret

Bring your own show and enjoy other spectacular acts in our cabaret night! The Cabaret starts right after the Late Night News, so make sure you'll be ready on time! Contact us if you want to perform in the cabaret, latenightjump (at) swingteam.fi.

After the cabaret we will party downstairs. Little Finland introduces Finnish dance music, and naturally we will have rooms for swing dances as well.

DJ'ing
